A Brief History and Reasoning for the Decriminalization of Prostitution
In America, 80,000 citizens are arrested a year for soliciting sex. That is costing tax
payers $200 million a year in court and jail fees. The NYPD on average arrest 2,700 people for
soliciting sex, costing tax payers $167,731 a year to house these inmates. That is tax payers’
money being used on a “victimless crime”. Good afternoon class my name is Kyle and this is JC,
Perry, Shannon, and Olivia. Studies reveal that one in ten men in the world have purchased a
prostitute. Former New York governor, Eliot Spitzer, paid escorts $5,500 an hour. Also, one in
five Korean men pay for sex more than four times a month. Thailand grosses 35 billion dollars
and Japan grosses at 27 billion. At this moment, there are 40 million prostitutes at work. We will
begin with a brief history as well as the definition, how prostitution is today and the positive of
