1. In the court case Giunto v. Florida Hockey Club the plaintiff Randy Giunto signed a
contract in order to participate in a sweepstakes for the Florida panthers hockey club. The
sweepstakes allege that the participant would be given a chance to win $1,000,000 by
shooting a hockey puck “into and through a special small goal.” The contract specifically
stated that in order to win the prize the puck had to “pass completely through the goal.”
Mr. Giunto shots went through the goal and ended up rebounding off the sides just so it
stopped at the opening of the goal, leading to a judge ruling the shot as unsuccessful. In
return, Mr. Ginuto sued the sponsors of the event for breach of contract, alleging he had
successfully made the goal.
2. The court held that there was no breach of contract. The court came to this reasoning
