In this week’s Instructor Contact Session, your instructor talks about ATDs. Use the
Capella library to search through the ABA literature and locate a study (use an
article not already assigned) that uses an ATD during some aspect of the
experiment. Summarize the study and evaluate the internal validity of the study.
This case study was about the use of a solo-sleeping for children who suffer from
anxiety or nighttime fears. This study touched on theories of problem behavior that
carries over into the morning and causes behavior problems for the student. This
study however suggests that with co-sleeping it is has helped the student to sleep
better with the parent rather than by their selves. Some students can be swayed to
use a toy to care for, so they can feel more in control when they sleep. Then some
have a story to help them feel better about the sleeping arrangement of solo–
sleeping, but the story would contain confidence build situations.
The study found with these coping mechanisms to work most of the time. And the
validity can be dependable because it can be across different family dynamics. The
