Essay One- Final Draft
Social media in world politics
Social media, a popular entertainment for the youngsters. As a type of ‘entertainment’,
social media also becomes a window to the world that letting the youth to know what is
happening in different places all around the world. In the same time, the mid-aged people
spend more time on social media than before. So this is the main reason that nowadays we
can see more political issues on the internet. Recently ads published by Hillary Clinton and
Donald Trump are seen on social media. Social media, as a ‘battlefield’ between these two
candidates, it plays an important role to affects people’s voting intentions. I think social
media being used as a ‘battlefield’ is acceptable as soon as it provides a wider space to let
people express their thoughts while government does not censorship it.
Internet brings convenience, people keen on doing everything online. Although it gives us
many advantages, I do not recommend internet voting as internet is too open for the
hackers. If E-voting is getting hacked by hacker hired by a candidate, a country will end up
in an unfair result. Yet, campaigning on social media is acceptable because it gives people
a free space to receive information about the candidates. But why it is considered as ‘free’?
