Question 1
According to the contingency theory of leadership, there is no leadership style that is precise to stand alone.
Leadership styles rely on factors such as situation and quality of the followers. The theory denotes that there is no single
right way to lead because the internal and external factors require a leader to adapt to a particular situation. Leaders do
not change the environment dynamics but the organization’s employees change (Al Khajeh 2018). There is no finest
way to lead as leadership depends on the circumstances in play to bring out the most effective leadership. The theorists
assumed that the focus of leaders was on leader-subordinate relationship, and subordinates played a major role in how
the relationship is defined. The theory says that for leaders to be effective, they must adapt to the situation at hand and
should be able to base their leadership on relationship-oriented and task-oriented. From the case study above, the styles
of leadership displayed include:
Authoritarian leadership
This type of leadership allows leaders to come up with expectations and define outcomes. It is based on a one-
person show which can be effective when the person is knowledgeable (Yahaya and Ebrahim 2016). This type of
