• How do you define leadership?
Leadership plays a very important part in our everyday lives. As a child I can remember
my parents always telling me to be a leader and not a follower. This statement has always
stuck with me. I’ve always thought of myself as being a leader and have always prided
myself in my ability to be a good leader. Leadership to me is defined as a person’s ability
to influence/motivate others to do something. DuBrin defines leadership as the ability to
inspire confidence and support among the people who are needed to achieve
organizational goals (DuBrin, 2016, p. 2). Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence and

What this statement says is that the basic principles of leadership stay the same no matter
what.
• What or who has influenced your definition of leadership?
Of course I could write down a long list of people that may have influenced my definition of
leadership, however in my opinion, experience is always the best teacher. I believe that you can
