Question 1:

Who is your leader and what leadership role/s has this person had?

The leader I have chosen to write about is Jack Ma, founder, former CEO, and currently

executive chairman of the Alibaba Group.

Question 2:

What is your interest in this leader? Why do you want to choose this person?

Jack Ma is a personal inspiration to me. He came to be one of the world’s most powerful

business leaders regardless of his humble beginnings, repeated rejections and

numerous entrepreneurial failures. His resilience and strong belief in himself are values

that I admire. I do not aspire to pursue Ma’s career path, or end up where he is now;

however, in terms of leadership, I truly believe that there is a lot to learn from his

journey to success.

Question 3:

What preliminary comprehensive sources have you found to support your weekly

research? In other words, do you have sufficient materials and references to

continue to assess and analyze this person and his/her leadership style, traits

and behaviors throughout this course?

Being who he is, Jack Ma has been and still is in the spotlight. There are numerous

articles written about him, along with a book, and a sleuth of other online materials

about his life, work, and current standing. I am confident that for everything this class is

teaching, there are corresponding sources pertaining to Jack Ma as a leader.
