Landscape and Nature
Nature is the physical environment and it contains many features, elements, and
products of the earth (Lörzing 35). For instance, plants, animals, landscapes, the
matter, forces that act on matter, energy and the components of the biological world are
some of the constituents of Mother Nature. On the other hand, the landscape is a
topography and part of the surface of the earth (Burel and Jacques 43). It contains
many geographical features. Therefore, a landscape is a subject of nature. A landscape
can be natural or cultural. In this study, an extensive analysis will be made on how
nature and landscape are related to each other. Similarly, a major focus will be made on
how they affect and influence each other. It is also important to note that some human
activities have had an effect on the natural world, where landscapes are inclusive.
Nature contains many elements which have been brought together to create
shapes and formations. In many cases, these shapes and formations constitute
landscapes. There are different types of landscapes and their variation is brought by
their structures and functions. Additionally, human activities have brought effects to the
landscapes and this is a major factor for their variation. The structure of the landscape
has the composition and configuration components (Lindenmayer, David, and Joern

and the riverine landscapes. There are also other types of landscapes which are
designed and modified by human beings. They are called build landscapes. On the
other hand, natural landscapes are made up of landforms like hills, caves, and valleys.
In many cases, natural landscapes are not affected by human activities.
Landscapes provide services to human beings such as providing biological
diversity, recycling nutrients, food, bio-fuels, fiber, timber, maintaining the quality of air,
regulating the climate, provision of clean water and much more (van der Heide 77).
Human beings are part of nature and these benefits strengthen the relationship between
nature and the landscapes. The natural landscape contains mountains, hills, plains,
