Genetics
INTRODUCTION
Genetics is the study of heredity in general and of genes in particular. It is one of the
central pillars of biology starting from the civilization of humankind has recognized the
influence of heredity applying its principles to improve society such as the Babylonian tablets
showing pedigrees of horses and indicates its possible inherited characteristics. Genes is the
fundamental unit of heredity which are made up of the chemical substances called the
deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA. Gregor Mendel is known to be the father of genetics which made
his studies on peas as the basis for the development of the present understanding of heredity.
