The History of the American Labor Movement
The U.S.A was a country that its economics dependents heavily on the output of
agriculture work until the late in nineteenth century. At the end of the nineteenth and the
twentieth century, the country entered a new stage that brought sustainable industrial
growth with it. The American farmers left their farms to work in huge factories, which was
full of unskilled labor with low wages and salaries. At that time, labor unions started to
develop all over the country. The effort of labor unions won them environmental
improvements in working conditions and altered their own politics.
Why do workers organize?
Workers who organize unions have their own reasons and concerns . Actually , they
organize not only to get better wages or better working conditions . However , union labor
receive various benefits in their work . They get more holidays , disability benefits , paid
insurance , sick leave , and other benefits that others . Labor unions effort helped to reduce
the impact of cutting of wages in many factories . Employer unfairness and the union’s
power are other factors that push workers to organize unions . They want to be treated
fairly form managers as human beings not only as workers and have the power to promote
changes in the work environment . By organizing labor unions , workers were seeking a
