The purpose of the MIS is to give mangers and other decision makers a continuous flow
of information about markets, customers, competitors, and different company operations.
It’s a tool so that all information is passed a long and that all information is up to date.
The components of MIS is information subject agenda, scanning modes, these are the
components that make up MIS. Information subject agenda is a list of information that is
tailored to a specific needs of that company. Scanning modes is the collection of
information that company’s needs or gathering of information. Monitoring and research
are within the scanning modes as well. It’s just all kinds of ways they get their
information either by web site, cable, or satellite. The MIS system is the best way that
company’s uses to get their information.

The difference between surveillance and search is that scanning is the investigation and
research part, and surveillance is the viewing and monitoring of information. Scanning
and monitoring is the tracking of story’s as they develops and new information that is
