Kaleigh Green Intercultural Relations
For my culture I chose to step into the life of a Hispanic family, in whom I work with
their daughter. In doing the research with her and her family I was able to learn very much from
just a short time. My friend, Xochi, shared many conversations with me about her family,
culture, and how it was different from the typical American’s culture. Earlier this week I stayed
at her house with her family and got to experience what the culture was like. It was typical for
me to hear her speaking Spanish and me being clueless, but with her family it was the whole
time it felt like. Of course, I have nothing against it because it would be the same for them to step
into my culture for a week.
Xochi introduced me to her family and they were very welcoming to me and into their
homes. She lives in a duplex, one side her dad, siblings and her, then on the other side it was her
grandmother, aunt, and cousins. Her grandmother was very much traditional and was easy to
