Kabuki/Noh: a reflection piece
Japanese theatre (Kabuki and Noh) differs significantly from western theatre
in a few different ways. For example, western theatre is much more realistic. Whereas Japanese
theatre is idealistic and abstract. In western theatre we typically see a lot of normal everyday life
scenarios. In Japanese theatre we see mythological and/or fantastical scenarios involving dragons
and spirits. There is also the use of masks and dancing throughout Japanese theatre. There are
elegant costumes and elaborate makeup in Japanese theatre as well, although this is also seen in
western theatre. The beauty of Japanese costuming, choreography, and overall style is almost
indescribable. In the videos for the assignment I observed that the use of dance in theatre is
