Homeland Security officials must always be prepared for just about anything that can
potentially come our country’s way. From natural disasters to terrorist attacks, there should be
plans to help assure an immediate and adequate response for all of society. Although, there are
plans in place for the worst of the worst, it is still difficult to really prepare, respond, and recover
from these kinds of events. However, with the assistance of federal, state and local organizations
and the federal emergency management agency (FEMA) many things are possible. Their most
important job to first, reduce the loss of life as much as possible. They must also try to monitor
property loss as well as the damage done to the environment. Last but not least, in the case of
threats to society they are the ones deemed responsible for protecting the whole of society.
