The community-based tourism (CBT) helps JUDES meet its mission by the fundamental
belief the organization presented and stood for. For example, CBT is guided by guidelines
that promote responsibility and ethical tourism. This approach was directly aligned with
JUDES mission and business model of a strong non-profit organization. In addition, the
CBT model provided an attractive consumer engagement opportunity that combined
related activities with low environmental impact and high community benefits. This
approach also benefited the less fortunate and provided them with the opportunity to
become aware of local cultures and heritages while being cost conservative in the process.
Lastly, JUDES implemented its own tailored ethical consumer principles into the design of
the CBT including the following; transparency, commitment to human rights and
non-violence, fair payment, empowerment, community enhancement, direct trade,
