The Joy luck club is a film directed by Wayne Wang. The movie is about four Chinese
women migrating from China in their early 20s. This movie is about the relationship and the
differences in worldviews between the Chinese traditional women and their Chinese American
daughter. The mothers in this movie were all born in China, whereas their daughters are born in
the United States. The conflict occurs between the mother and the daughters because they are
born and raised in the United Stated, and they are “Americanized” and not value Chinese
heritage as their mother’s do.
