Introduction
Wal-Mart is one of the largest retail corporation in the world that has been in existence since
1994. The first article, “ROB Ranks WalMart Among Canada’s best Employers” discusses
Walmart Canada’s success, which was ranked among the 50 best employers in Canada
(Marketnews.ca, 2008. P.287). In contrast, the second article, “The Cost of Walmartization”
examines the negative aspects of Walmart. The purpose of this journal entry is to present two
opposing views of the articles and find the different approaches the author uses in the article.
Article 1: ROB Ranks Wal-Mart Among Canada’s Best Employers
The article “ROB Ranks WalMart Among Canada’s Best Employers” focuses on the
success of Wal-Mart Canada. According to the article, Wal-Mart Canada is one of the 50 best
employers in the country (Marketnes.ca, 2007, p.287). The author mainly uses a teleological
approach that defines ethical behavior in terms of the end goals or consequences of our behaviour
