Collaborative Learning/Writing: Learning with Peers
Why Collaborate?
•For students that don’t develop the key instrument of writing for a reader and not for
themselves collaborative helps them learn from others.
•Writers develop an essential idea what the writer would like to read.
•Collaboration helps other students give appropriate comments of a writing and helping the
writer improve.
•Writers learn the different audience they want to impact and difference in approach.
•Writers learn to analyze papers, due to the fact they have to grade their peers too.
•Collaboration helps them develop new combination skills when it comes t talking about their
own work
•Students learn writing as a process. “The best way to learn something is to teach it.” (pg. 1)
How to Collaborate Effectively
•Collaborating effectively means that you collaborate in a certain way to achieve a desired goal.
•It all depends on what you want to achieve, you can either collaborate in big or small groups.
•Big essays= Small groups, Short writing works= Bigger groups
Diagnosing Collaboratively
•Giving students the opportunity to grade other students works comes with teaching them how
to diagnose a problem
