Make English the Official Language of the United States of America
English has been a part of American culture since the 17th century. It is the most widely
spread spoken language throughout the United States. But Congress has yet to officially declare
English to be the official language. This is an ongoing highly controversial issue in many areas
across America. Diversity in America is so great there has been growing concern over language
barriers and policies. America needs an all-inclusive plan for managing English education
resources in combination with safeguarding language rights. But such a policy involves much
more than simply labeling an official language.
Determining English to be the official language does not mean that the use of all other
foreign languages will be forbidden. The simple yet complex ability to speak any language
reflects a person’s personality, self-image, and familiarity of the world. The ability to object and
