Jesus’ Salvation: An Exegesis of John 21
In the Book of Hebrews, it is written: “Therefore he is able to save completely
those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”
(Hebrew 7:25). That is to say, Jesus’ salvation is planned by God through the
incarnation and the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Every Christian believes salvation is
the only passage to God, but how humanity’s activities could achieve salvation is
widely controversial (Min, 1989). The hope of salvation in Jesus Christ is the
foundation of Christian faith, just like Peter and other disciples came back to the Sea
of Galilee and waited for Jesus’ resurrection. John 21 reveals Jesus’ salvation through
Jesus’ resurrection appearances and Peter’s restoration.
The story “Jesus forgives Peter” is situated in the Chapter 21 of Gospel John.
