After reading about IT Generation Gap, I felt like I had an understanding with it on a personal
level. I work in a retail shop and recently they have hired a new worker who is the age of my
grandma. I do agree that these groups will not coexist without conflict. Sometimes at work
we have to have the ability to perform some technical procedures. My co-worker began not
even having the knowledge on how to create an email. That did put a barrier in their job
performance and I had to spend days teaching how to do various types of technology work.
I do not fear the future because I feel like those raised in the technological based world will
comprehend and perform faster than those who have not had experience with any
technology. Later in the article it was said, “millennials were like, ‘I’ve been here 15 minutes,
can I put vice president on my card?” (Fast Risers.) This statement does put a little fear for
the future when talking about the aspects of work ethics. Many young adults do not have
any motivation to work for anything, all they want is to be given things. Older generations
know how to work for what they want, so in a way things can go downhill once those older
people retire.
When reading the article of Bridging the IT Generation Gap, I feel as i fit in with “millennials”
group. This is because my generation is more about technology. I believe that the future will be
better in the way that people won’t have to work as hard to get certain task done due to all the
technologies available today that were not reachable back then. “Solutions may be easier to find
in the technology world,” says Erickson. As i interact with older generation i can see the big gap,
