Many higher education institutions still today are faced with day to day issues that pertain
to their institution. It is important to be able to confront the issues while moving forward into the
future. To stay competitive and to thrive in the current higher education landscape, it is important
that college and university leaders prioritize, focus and evolve their operations and what the
institution offers. Issues that existed in the past can still be seen as issues that institutions face
today such as cost of education, accreditation, academic freedom, workforce development and
overall quality of all sectors that leaders are to focus on.
Cost of Education
Cost of education has taken a toll on student enrollments and decision to return to school
based on how much institutions charge for degree programs. Institutions do look for different
ways to stay competitive and less expensive. Colleges and Universities have several challenges
