A software is the computer program in charged to run a computer’s hardware. It tells the
computer how to work. Still, software cannot be executed without a hardware. All the
information processed by a computer is included in the software. It consists of a number of
separate programs and configuration files. These are used to set up programs, system
documentation, and user documentation. A software system has many more components such as
specification, test results, end-user documentation, maintenance records, etc.
Even been one of the most important part of a computer, a software is an invisible component. It
is the invisible system that helps you to communicate with the tangible components of the
computer.
There are two types of software: system software, and application software. The first one is
basically who act directly with the computer hardware. It works with the operating system, utility
programs, and device drivers. This last one is who controls any device attached to the computer.
The second one, application software, focus on custom built, and packaged software. It can be
used to run any software with an entertaining function. There are also malicious software,
created to destroy computers, and used for criminal purposes.
Users usually have to purchase a software license to have the right of use a software, but there
are also free software available, also called commercial software. Some of the best system
software are Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, and Linux. It is important the quality of the
software, because a faulty software can crash your computer, or delete all your information from
the computer.
Most of the computers today comes already with a software installed, but still there are people
who want to change it. A software can be downloaded from specific online stores, or can be
added to the computer by physical media, like a DVD.
