“Morals can’t be derived from empiracle facts alone.” Morals are based on seeing
humans as and end, not a means to an end, and universalizing your moral laws. Morals are
based on seeing other humans as rational beings that must be treated with respect. We must
see ourselves as both physical and empirical beings as well as rational beings. When we
subscribe to Kant’s version of morality, we are asked to separate ourselves from animals by
using reason. As rational beings we can have a life that surpasses the consequences of living
life, just to satisfy our needs. We can step outside of our own needs, and have a worldview
perspective on how we want to use the world and people as an end in themselves. This would
contradict my own behaviors when trying to make friends. I often look for rich hot friends, and
wonder why I feel so empty by the end of the relationship. It is usually because I saw that
person as a means for my enjoyment. I don’t have to be rich to experience wealth, I can be a
“scrub” and piggy back off of my friends. When I focus on people as a means to an end, I am
