Is This Conservation?
The animals that are seen to be thriving in Texas are failing to meet the standard
capacity in their native lands. For example, the scimitar horned oryx is an animal that could be
commonly found throughout Africa many years ago. Today, the animal has gone extinct in
those areas.
When ranchers found out that these animals could survive in Texas and knew they were
disappearing in their native lands, they felt the need to keep the species alive. With a mission to
conserve the species, Texas ranchers began breeding the exotic animals on their ranches.
However, with that being said, many of these exotic animals are also being killed on Texas land.
