Is Democracy Good for Economic Development?
This case provides awareness of and insight to the growing dilemma of economic growth
within a democracy. There is comparison between China with their totalitarianism politics with a
strong economy and America with democracy and its struggling economy. Why are Chinese
citizens more satisfied than most Americans with their government and economy despite being
ruled under a totalitarianism politic?
Why does democracy have such broad appeal as a political system around the world?
Democracy, as described in our text, is a political system in which citizens elect
