Invisible Nature
In chapter 7, Kenneth Worthy introduces the topic of modern spaces. He introduces the topic
by reflecting how dissociations of the modern era has affected our planet. Kenneth Worthy reflects
how big of a consumer species the human race has evolved to. Our consumer behaviours has affected
other species and the environment. The author makes a great comparison about our current human
behaviour towards the environment by reflecting how two different towns around the world differ.
One of the towns is located in Italy, and according to the author, the town is modelled around nature,
on the other hand, cities like LA, were designed to cover as much space per unit as possible, creating
big dissociations with nature, and even destroying it.
Kenneth Worthy says that modern societies should learn more about Japan´s modern spaces,
because Japanese culture does a great job in protecting and honouring traditional spaces, preserving
