Grupo Financiero Inverlat’s original communication throughout the company was lacking
cohesiveness. The company was structured over eight regions and the leadership over each
region displayed no overall strategy to work together resulting in a breakdown in
communication. The company neglected to develop autonomy and the divisiveness made
implementation of new products, systems, and overall organization impossible. The company
experienced a power struggle within the company that affected the employees ability to support
growth. The employees were quoted stating, “I cannot support you (in some initiative) because
my boss told me not to.” This is a clear example of the breakdown within the communication
climate. The new privatized structure also brought in influences from other more successful
banking companies such as a senior executive from Banamex. This move was not motivation for
the Inverlat managers because they felt that adding an individual to the company did not bring
