This week you look at Job Analysis and HR Planning in Chapter 10
The management of people includes attracting, selecting, training, compensating and retaining
employees. However the underlying requirement for talent management is forecasting the need for
talented employees in terms of both numbers and skills. To forecast these needs, the organization must
have accurate information about the knowledge, skill and abilities (KSAs) necessary for the Job
performance, these can be identified through job analysis.
As an HR professional, do a Job analysis on the following to determine what Knowledge skills and
abilities might be required for these jobs. List and describe 5 for each category
Job 1:
Knowledge
1. Bachelor’s degree in English – provides a strong background
on literature, compositions or linguistic in English. The
program stresses diversity, critical thinking, literary analysis,
and written and oral communication skills through a rigorous
curriculum of literature, language and linguistics and
composition.
2. Master’s in English – the minimum requirement to teach
introductory writing and literature courses at colleges and
universities
3. PHD – involves the study of history, culture context and
meaning of English literature and trains students to analyze
and write about work programs
4. Teaching certification – license or certification received after
completing teachers’ course and testing
5. Master’s in Teaching – designed for both current and K-12
teachers who are looking to either obtain their initial
teaching license or who are looking for additional
certification as a means of career advancement inside the
classroom
Skills
1. Skill in the use of personal computers and software
2. Strong communication for interacting with students and
faculty
3. Capable of work withing diverse audience and adapt
teaching methods
