When searching for employment opportunities through Indiana Career Explorer, there were
many different careers that caught my eye. One career I am highly interested in is a financial manager.
Some advantages of this career are the average salary of $113,150 and a large amount of employment
opportunities. I would have to work my way up in a company in order to have this position. I would also
need to further my education and get a bachelor’s degree in finance. This career mostly involves
analyzing financial records and helping clients or businesses improve their financial situation through
budget modifications and forecasting sales or revenue, among other things. I will have to face many
obstacles, such as furthering my education while working full time. Finding a opening shift job would be
one way to overcome this obstacle because I would be able to attend evening classes. This career will
allow me to be financially stable enough to buy a permanent home and start a family.
Another career I was interested in is a financial sales agent. This job would require me to buy
and sell securities or commodities in investment and trading firms. I would need to stay up to date on
the market and needs of consumers in order to pursue this job as well as be successful at it. I think this
would be an advantage because I would be able to study the global market more thoroughly, which is
something I am very intrigued by. There are also a lot of job openings for this career, which is an
advantage since I would not have a whole lot of experience. However, I think having experience in other
finance services would be necessary in order to be successful. I would not need to further my education,
since only an associate degree is required and I will have that by the end of 2023. I think I would really
enjoy this job but I also think it would cause a lot of stress on me to make good investment decisions. I
plan to get more comfortable with the stock market and make some small investments in order to feel
more comfortable in investing in the future.
Regardless of which career I choose, I will do through research on the companies who would
employ me. I want to be able to ensure I am working for a company that has good ethics and social
responsibility. To me, companies who donate to charity or offer other services to society tend to treat
and respect their employees more. Knowing what kind of company I will be working for and what they
value the most will help me stand out among other applicants. I want to work for a company I believe in
and fully support.
