Summary of Leader Interview

Interviewee: Mr. Swapnil Sharma
The leader I chose to interview was Mr. Swapnil Sharma, inhabitant of Kathmandu, Nepal.
Currently he is associated with four different organizations. He is the vocalist of popular
Nepalese Rock band, The Shadows Nepal and Founding Director of Purple Haze Rock Bar. He
is also the CEO of Sangeet Pathshala (music school) and Director for International Affairs at
Eduquest Nepal Educational Consultancy (Abroad study consulting), all situated at Kathmandu
Nepal. He completed his Master of Business Administration from Ace Institute of Management,
affiliated to Pokhara University. He has been involved in these organizations from past 8 years
and actively leading the organizations.
Mr. Sharma defined leadership as a process of influencing people to do the right thing i.e. setting
the goal and influencing people to maximize the goal achievement. He focuses on the process
and people involved in the process who are the heart in any goal achievement set by the leader.
When asked about the traits he has that makes him good leader, he said that integrity is the key
which creates a climate of trust. He also strongly believes that as a leader one needs to have high
Emotional intelligence so that the emotions of people and oneself can be known and become
aware of. He focuses on people and making them feel that the goal is their own goal and this is
