What is a Human Resource Information System?
Human resource information system is a software that is used for data entry, data tracking, and
data management of a company’s employees. It also stores employees’ names, addresses,
national ID’s or Social Security numbers, work permit information, and information about
dependents. Some of the systems are used for recruitment, performance management, learning,
and development. This system can be used on either the company’s own technical infrastructure
or it can be used from the could. When using it on the cloud the system can be updated much
easier. Some of the functions of a human resource information system are: master data
management (MDM), organizational management (positions and departments), employee and
manger self-services, absence and leave management, benefits administration, workflows,
performance appraisals, recruitment and applicant training, compensation management, training
tracking, and reporting and basic analytics. (Rouse, 2020)
