Introduction to E-Commerce:
Electronic Commerce or in short e-commerce is the transaction that happens in the e-business
which is the online business. In short, e-commerce can be defined as a stream of study that
involves the online business, the transactions and the technology involved in it.
Electronic Commerce or EC necessarily means trading products and services by using a
computer through the internet. Electronic commerce first developed in the early 1970s with
innovations such as electronic fund transfer (EFT) transfer of funds from one organization to
another. Then came electronic data interchange (EDI) electronic transfer of standard documents.
World Wide Web was one of the breakthroughs in the 1990's; this allowed companies to have a
presence on the internet with both text and photo. Term electronic commerce was coined in
1990’s when the internet was commercialized. Development of new networks, protocols, and EC
