The Innovation of the Book’s Face
A culture of innovation based on “done is better than perfect, move fast and break things”
has allowed Facebook to become the world’s largest online social media networking platform.
“The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the
impossible,” as stated by Arthur C. Clarke. Living in a time of technological advancement that is
changing the way we live, work and play have made people go above and beyond to create
something to continue to push the technological envelope. Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is
one of the people who decided to go beyond the possible and create Facebook. Using innovative
communication tools to connect over 2 billion people worldwide in unprecedented ways has
allowed Facebook to “Give people the power to build community and bring people closer

to constantly be innovative. Constant iteration and different types of innovation contributed to
the immense growth of Facebook. Facebook is a company that has used product, process, core,
adjacent, and transformational innovation to become the largest online social media platform that
is the parent company of other leading companies as well. Facebook is able to adjust and
implement different types of innovation by fostering an organizational culture that is conducive
for employees to thrive in and by acquiring the right resources. Capital, both monetary and
human [users], and technical equipment are the resources that Facebook utilizes.
“At any given point in time, there isn’t just one version of Facebook running, there are
probably 10,000,” says Zuckerberg, of the constant iterating. “Any engineer at the company can
decide they want to test something. There are some rules on sensitive things but in general an
