Innovation Project – Collaborative network system for Logistics and supply chain
For most organizations, effective utilization of logistics assets is the difference between
product success and failure. The most important sub-category in logistics is road transport
or trucking, which is predominantly sub-contracted to logistics companies in the market.
For example, a company like P&G (shipper) would sub-contract DHL or UPS (carriers) to
provide road transport services in the desired locations.
Current challenge for shippers like P&G, Unilever: Lack of visibility to utilize empty
backhaul (Return Trips):
Shippers are actively looking for collaborative partners from non-competing industries to
secure empty miles to save cost.
Pre-requisites & Technology:
The company most requiring this technology can be a leader and build it to support its
prospective collaborative partners. In order to partner with a company from a
non-competing sector, certain parameter need to match. For example, P&G could
potentially initiate the process and build a system with real-time freight data about its
network partners.
Each user in the network, built by the leader will have access to the backhaul information
