The History of Nike
Specific Purpose Statement: To inform others of how the company Nike started, how the logo
and slogan originated and key major events in Nikes history that contributed to its overall major
success
Pattern organization: Topical
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Attention grabber: How many of you own or are wearing Nike Apparel? Now of those of
you who do own and or are wearing Nike, do you know how it started?
B. Reveal Topic: I will be talking about how the Company started, How the idea of the logo
and slogan came to be and some major events in Nikes history
C. Credibility: I took my research from websites such as Kicksonfire.com which is a known
sneaker website and BusinessInsider.com and I have also been wearing Nike for as long
as I can remember and it’s my favorite sports brand
D. How topic relates: according to my survey in class around half of the class likes wearing
sports brand compared to other brands, and almost everyone in the class said they
owned Nike apparel so, why not know the history about this beloved sports brand?
