Information’s Spread Through Various Technologies
Over the past 20 years, the world has seen a revolution in technology for better or worse.
What type of technology do you have in your home? Depending on how much you have, and
what in today’s society you can receive and communicate information much faster than previous
generations. If you have a smart phone or computer device, in John Dickerson’s “Don’t Fear
Twitter”, and in Steve Grove’s “YouTube: The Flattening of Politics” they both talk of how
twitter should be recognized as a new writing and political news platforms. Josh Keller also
explores how people are writing faster and more than ever in “Studies Explore Whether the
Internet Makes Students Better Writers.” The advancement of technology through different
platforms has allowed for fast communication of news, opinions, and beliefs/facts/politics
throughout the world; as well as gives each individual a platform to not only express their selves,
but to get their voice out to be heard unlike in previous generations.
When you wanted to find out about the latest story or what is happening around your
society back around the 70’s and 80’s more times than not you would turn on the TV and watch
the news. A person may also read a local newspaper or attend local meetings. This made
communication and the spread of news slow as it could take up to 24 hours or even more for one
to find out what is happening around the world. In today’s time we have the internet created by
Tim Berners-Lee in mid-November of 1989. Though limited access for most humans to start, it
would soon evolve into something unimaginable. This has allowed for communication and news
