Cloud computing is the method of service which include servers, storage, databases,
networking, software, analytics, and intelligence which all takes place over the internet (Azure,
2021)
Benefits:
Cost:
When switching to cloud, companies are expected to save money, cloud storage can be
purchased as you go and do not have to pay for storage you do not use.
Security:
A data hosts full time job is to watch out for any attacks and assure all data is safe: this Is what
sets your in-house server apart for you cloud base. When data is converted from your data base
to the cloud, the likelihood of that data getting into the wrong hands is slow especially since data
is encrypted.
Flexibility:
When using cloud-based data employees, managers and head of the company can access data
base files no matter where they are. Sales force can visit clients and get the job done on sight
since iPad would allow them to access the company data base.
Collaboration:
Some clouds offer collaborative social spaces for employees to connect and share
ideas/information. This allows members of the same team to work together to make the
workplace more effective.
Disaster Recovery:
Cloud -base data bases have a service available where you can get help in case of an
unexpected disaster. The rate of recovery for cloud users compared to non-cloud users was two
times greater.
Risks:
Cloud based data is always out there for everyone to grab this means there is always a risk of
a cyber-attack. Any devise that connects to the internet suffers the risk of a potential attack
lack of protection, making the
Process very difficult with many to cope with. It is difficult to rest easy when you do not complete
understand the process and all aspects are out of your hands.
Visibility/ Control:
When turning to a cloud-based service it goes without saying that you will have a lack of
visibility as backups will be automatically done. When assets/operations are moved to the
cloud, many of the responsibilities that might have otherwise been taken care of by someone in
the office now is the responsibility of the service provider.
Lost Data:
Although we may think of an attack every time, we think of data being lost, it is not the case.
Many times, data can be lost simply due to an accidental deletion. Not to mention that if a
company encrypts its data before it gets uploaded to the cloud and for some reason the
password does not seem to work, the company could lose that data forever.
Internet:
Corporations relying on the internet more then ever, there is no way around it no internet no
data. Although many may think this is no big deal, we have internet everywhere let us not
forget that a snowstorm can wipe our connection out for weeks at times. This means that for the
timing being there will not be access to that data this can put the company on the edge.
When it comes to small firms it may be a good idea to rethink which system works best. Many
times, the price tag for cloud storage is far to big for small firms to handle. Although cloud allows
