Reflection on Ethics and Religion Course
Ethics is a moral principle that guides individuals’ behaviors, influenced by religious
practices, cultural and social norms. Shapiro and Stefkovich (2016) noted that ethics is
concerned with prescribing and describing moral behavior, an acceptable and unacceptable way
of behaving-that serves as a function of philosophical standard. Ethical behaviors can be
illustrated in terms of the moral principles of Christian leaders. For instance, being honest
involves thinking about the outcome of one’s actions, thinking about another person’s welfare,
and playing fair. The ethics and religion course has helped me understand that integrity is the
most required quality of a Christian leader, effective leadership and ethical behavior go hand in
hand, and ethics influences decision making by providing a set of values needed to estimate the
consequence of an action.
