Petty Crime:
When traveling to India, petty crime is very common with personal property. Women that have

is important for the traveler to securely lock away all belongings no matter if it is on their person
or on the plane with luggage. Typically, it is obvious to tell who is and who isn’t a foreigner in
India. Gangs and criminal offenders often target travelers for kidnapping, extortion, and ATM
card scams.
Sexual Crime:
For female travelers in India, it is highly recommended to not travel anywhere alone during the
stay. Men in India walk in groups and are known for “eveteasing” also known as extreme sexual
harassment that can vary from verbal to physical quickly. Public transportations that aren’t
verified (especially during the night) should be avoided since rape is one of the fastest growing
crimes in India. Men in India tend to attack women of African descent. Keep all personal
information extremely private to avoid these situations. Indian women are very conservative,
know the culture of India to fit into their customs. Women’s clothing in India covers their body;
try to blend in and not stand out to avoid becoming a victim of any sexual crimes.
