In Kakabadse’s food company example, to what extent was lack of communication (from the organizations’ top to bottom and bottom to top)
causing a CSR problem?
According to the food company example given, the different levels and their knowledge about CSR policies
and procedures are:
Top Level They believed that they were morally conscious and paid a lot of attention to CSR
policies and strategies. They also created and completed a CSR training, which was made available to
all employees online.
Divisional level They were aware that there were CSR policies and strategies in place and knew
about an online training, but most were not obligated to complete it.
Lower level They had heard and knew that there was some sort of CSRT policy and strategy but
did not know exactly what was done. They also were not aware that there was an online training
available.
Country Level They were not aware of any CSR policy and structure. This level was essentially a
large # of farms, that were mostly family owned and were striving to do what ever they had to do to
please the organization. This included having their children working on the farms as well, creating
child labour issues, and even then, they were still below the poverty line. They also had people from
the same country driving and pushing the farmers to work harder to meet the needs of the
organization.
The lack of communication (from the organization’s top to bottom and bottom to top) caused a lack of CSR
