Universities are institutions of learning and development where people come together to
share ideas and theories, and to examine, scrutinize, and justify views and beliefs of the
world, the way it works, and how those in it operate, think, and change. Universities are
also a place where true responsibility is learned, where young men and women develop
their own identities and become responsible for themselves. These institutions should be a
safe place where logic and responsibilities are placed into the students’ hands, and they are
given the choice to do whatever they will with them. This condign placement of
responsibility is not what happens at Liberty University, and the executives should be
aware that Liberty University will leave its students ill prepared for post-college life
through: the Liberty Way restricting personal preparation for the future, and confining
students in a community in which their beliefs are never challenged.
The student code of conduct of Liberty University, The Liberty Way, is a very restrictive
document, to the point of preventing Liberty University students from preparing
themselves for the lives they will lead after they graduate Liberty University; this should
be changed by the executives of Liberty University. The Liberty Way does this through
averting character building events, breeding an environment of rejection for those who
deny the Liberty Way, and impedes development of normal, healthy responsibilities. In an
attempt to keep its students morally pure Liberty University has instated rules—primarily
the articles on association with alcohol, and curfew—that have become obstacles that
