In The Zone By Joshua Williams
I love getting “in the zone” or flow as Dr.Csikszentmihalyi describes. It is a wonderful
feeling to be immersed in something, to be so impassioned by an activity or experience that you
lose your sense of time. Having that sense of purpose and drive to finish something is arguably
one of the best feelings in the world. Few can compare to it. There are a couple of experiences I
can refer to where I have been “in the flow”.
The first of which was when I first got acquainted with one of my favorite pastimes,
photography. It is a rather new pastime of mine but it is still one I cherish deeply. I take great
pleasure in roaming the landscape around me and searching for that perfect picture to take. I
could spend hours walking around, taking and editing my pictures but it seems like only minutes
are passing by. The world and nature have so much beauty hidden within it and, if I could, I
