In the documentary Bowling for Columbine, filmmaker Michael Moore sets out to
explore the roots of America’s predilection for gun violence. Moore focuses on the Columbine
Highschool Massacre which was a school shooting that occurred on April 20th, 1999. The
perpetrators, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold murdered 12 students and one teacher. The pair
committed suicide in the school library, after gunning down 10 students in there. 21 additional
people were injured with gunshots and gunfire was also exchanged with the police. Another
three people were injured trying to escape the building. At the time, it was the most horrific
school shooting in United States’ history. In addition to Columbine Massacre, Moore also
documents the effects of the fatal shooting of Kayla Renee Rolland, a six-year-old first grader,
