The reformation is an important movement for Christianity in the sixteenth century that leads to a division
of this faith tradition, originating was is known as the second force of Christianity. Until then, the only
Christian denomination was Catholicism. To the majority of historians, the publication of Luther’s Ninety–
Five Theses marks the starting point of the Reformation movement. Luther wrote these theses in response
to what he identified as abuses of the catholic church in selling indulgences. This document was first
written in Latin and then translated in to Germany, therefore, it became extremely popular in Germany,
home country of Luther and where the theses were first disseminated. However, most people had access
to his work through sermons, since only 5% of the population was literate. It is important to mention that
Luther’s theses’ popularity was augmented due to great part of society then already being dissatisfied
