Identity Dynamics in “The Yellow Wallpaper”
In “The Yellow Wallpaper,” the narrator is experiencing post partum
depression after just having her newborn. Her husband and personal caretaker,
John, tries to relieve her of stress and cure her of her ailments by doing what he
thinks is necessary. He uses isolation and bed rest to treat her condition. Little does
he know, he is exacerbating her depression and is driving her to insanity.
