Hurricane Sandy Assignment
1. The role of the state government in a disaster is to be able to keep
everyone informed on how to be safe during this disaster and what we can do
to better help ourselves and our futures. States government tells us the most
recent news there is to know about the disaster by any means possible. I
would say the spokes person for New York State is Mayor Bloomberg, and I
would say he is the correct person because he’s the one who is supposed to
make decisions for NY. My state I would have to say is doing a pretty good job
at giving the message to everyone because they sent out trucks and messages
through all media ways in any possible way.
The message Bloomberg is trying to send to everyone is to be safe and
conscious of what is going on around you. Also he’d rather have everyone
stay in their homes other than the schools, social services, and cops, so that
everyone stays safe inside. As he hopes the power will continue be given back
throughout the state so people will be able to be kept warm again. Bloomberg
has also opened up ports again so that gas can come flowing back and given
out to everyone.
Messages like these are being sent through all different types of social
media such as TV messages, on the radio, posters, through village centers. I
would say it is the right media to use because its all the media we have in this
