HUMAN TRAFFICKING 2
Human Trafficking by Louise Shelly is an expansive look at the social and human toll of
the international crime rings trafficking humans for sex, labor and terrorisms. The book offers a
in depth look at the economic benefits of these crimes and the astounding lack of prosecuting
regarding these cases. Shelly(2010) describes human trafficking as modern day slavery often
taking place in seemingly broad day light which bring to mind the slave auctions of old where
they occurred in view of the public. It became a normal part of life. The author calls for a global
stance against the inner working of trafficking by first bringing to light the interconnectedness of
trafficking and globalization and economy. Shelly (2010) shows how the majority of trafficking
criminals have ties to the police and government therefore the fight to dismantle their structures
will be difficult.
