Human Resources at “Noodles and Company”
For this assignment I have chosen to explore how Human Resources is
structured at Noodles and Company. Noodles and Company is a franchised owned
restaurant where I am currently employed in Ann Arbor. The same franchise owner
owns and manages all of the 18 restaurants in Michigan. The main office is located
in Grand Rapids and this is where the Human Resource Department is located as
well. Noodles and Company specializes in noodle dishes inspired from around the
world. In addition to serving noodles, they also have a selection of appetizers, soups,
and salads. There are about 25 employees including myself that work at our
restaurant in Ann Arbor. I was able to interview the General Manager who runs our
store and ask him questions ranging from the structure of human resources to his
personal opinions on the role that Human Resources should play in our company.
He was also able to set up a phone interview with a lady who works in the Human
Resource department in Grand Rapids so I could ask her the same questions to
compare and contrast the responses.
The first questions I asked the Human Resource employee named Linda was
about the structure and role of HR and how many employees are employed at her
office. She explained that her office in Grand Rapids has four other employees that
work in her department, however, the corporate office has many more employees.
