Question LO 1-1: Human Resource Management is defined by its policies, practices, and
systems that influence employee’s behavior, attitudes, and performance. HRM is a
powerful resource to a company. With a successful HRM program, employees and
customers will have more satisfaction. Companies will also be more innovated, have
greater productivity, and develop a good reputation in the community. It is a win-win for
everyone.
Question LO 1-2: The Human Resource Department deals with management of people
within the organization. There are a number of responsibilities that come with this title.
While there are many responsibilities of this department, not every company is the same.
Some responsibilities include; analysis and design of work, recruitment and selection of
employees, training and development, performance management, compensations
management, employee relations, personnel policies, employee data and information
systems, compliance laws and support for strategy. These task may be performed within
the HR department or the company, or sources out to a third party. Therefore, no to human
resource departments are identical.
Question LO 1-3: A successful Human Resource Department will pool together inviduals
with a variety of skills. Organizational leadership is one skill needed for human resource
management. Behaviors include fostering collaboration and consistent behaviors within
the company culture. Effective communication is important to helps provide contrastive
feedback and helps managers communicate effectively. Global and cultural effectiveness
manages human resources across organizational boundaries. Employees must embrace
inclusion and work effectively with diverse cultures. Having good ethical practices is vital.
